Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Knowles Fleet is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040.

Baseline emissions footprint

Baseline year: 01/12/22 - 30/11/23
Additional details relating to the baseline emissions calculations.

This was the first year Knowles Fleet worked with a third party (Carbon Neutral Britain) to complete an independent carbon audit across the business. Therefore, the figures below provide a verified baseline from which to measure future progress on emissions reduction.

Our emissions calculations cover Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and Scope 3 emissions where data is currently available. We include all seven Kyoto Protocol Greenhouse Gas groups in our emission footprint figures.

Baseline year emissions: 01/12/22 – 30/11/23
EMISSIONS TOTAL (tCO2e)
102.46
Scope 1 11.93
Scope 2 5.25
N.B we do not use refrigerants or cooling at our premises or during our operations.
Scope 3

Upstream transportation and distribution 0.00
As an independent fleet management company, the service we provide is the administration of vehicle fleets and car benefit schemes. We do not purchase or control the actual vehicles. These are owned by leasing companies who are responsible for transportation and maintenance operations. We have not therefore reported on this area of Scope 3 emissions as we do not transport or distribute any purchased products.

Energy usage working from home 0.641

Downstream transportation and distribution 0.00
As we provide an administration service only, we do not sell a product that can be transported/ distributed. As such, we have not reported on this area of Scope 3 emissions.

Emissions reduction targets

This year’s (2024/25) analysis shows that compared with the previous reporting year, there has been a slight rise in total annual carbon emissions across the business, up 0.9% to 75.37 tCO2e. However, this total still remains well below our annual emission reduction target set in April 2024 to achieve a 50% fall (51.23 tCO2e) in emissions from our baseline year by 2030.

To continue our progress, we have adopted the following revised targets to halve emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2040:

  • Achieve an annual 6.25% (6.40 tCO2e) reduction in emissions from our baseline year to 2030.

  • Maintain a further 2.5% (2.56 tCO2e) fall in total emissions each year thereafter to reach net zero by 2040.

These targets are illustrated in the graph below:

Carbon reduction projects

Completed carbon reduction initiatives

Over the last 12 months we have introduced the following environmental management measures and projects across the business:

  • In October 2025, Knowles Fleet achieved ISO 14001:2015 environmental accreditation for the second year running.

  • Working in partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain, in January 2026 we offset our annual carbon footprint against verified renewable projects across to the world to become a Carbon Neutral Business for the third year running.

  • Focused on further cutting emissions from business travel and hotel stays by:

    • Replacing in-person meetings with video conferencing.
    • Continued use of electric and hybrid pool cars for business travel.
    • Increased use of car sharing and public transport.

The above measures have resulted in a 33.3% fall in business travel emissions over the past 12 months (down from 2.879 tCO2e to 1.92 tCO2e) and a 67.61% drop in emissions from hotel stays (down from 0.46 tCO2e to 0.149 tCO2e).

  • Implemented a more robust, fully compliant waste management system to accurately record all office waste. Built greater staff awareness of the need to responsibly dispose of and reduce waste.

  • Appointed Green Champions across the business who are responsible for ensuring all environmental policies are adhered to. Regular meetings help to generate new ideas for carbon reduction measures.

In the future we hope to implement further measures:

  • By Q3 2026, Knowles Fleet plans to move to a new head office building. The current planned premise would provide a futureproof office space and immediately reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions as it offers:

    • An A grade energy efficiency rating (our current office is EPC Band D)
    • Heat pump heating and cooling (currently use oil as the only rural option)
    • LED lighting throughout.

The site also offers EV charging facilities for staff.

  • As an employee owned business, we will continue to work together to reduce our environmental impact as a key part of our social responsibility programme.

  • Achieve greater supply chain engagement on carbon disclosure and reduction commitments. Preference suppliers with ISO 14001 accreditation and Net Zero targets.
